Small businesses are the bloodline of our communities, especially in the Bronx where the majority of businesses are minority and immigrant-owned. These small businesses employ people locally, provide services locally, and pour into our local economies. This is the story of entrepreneurship that folds into the American dream.
This is personal for Troy as his family owns small businesses in the Bronx and employs local community residents. With the rates of covid-19 increasing and the mandated shut down, many small businesses were not able to survive and unfortunately had to close their doors for good. Less than half of small businesses in district 15 that survived the pandemic, received Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) grants.
