Healthcare is a basic human right and should be provided to all New Yorkers regardless of employment or immigration status. The city has appx. 600,000 uninsured residents; about half of them are undocumented immigrants. Even those who are undocumented are paying a retail tax that the city benefits from. Any New Yorker should be able to visit one of the hospital system’s 70 clinics hassel free. In addition, we must support NYC hospitals partnering with community-based organizations on culturally sensitive outreach.
